Heinrich Schliemann in Mycenae in 1876 and shows the heroic battle between two rival groups of warriors over a fallen soldier. The crater, which is the largest silver object in the Mycenaean antiquity, found in laminates, to be “resurrected” later with the help of archaeologists and conservators. Detected in one of the royal tombs of the famous Grave Circle A of Mycenae, where for the first time, found objects and burial customs completely unknown until then in archaeological research and which date back to the 16th century. e.X.
The report and the presentation made in the context of the Unseen Museum, the successful action of the National Archaeological Museum, which displays your selected antiquities from the world of the warehouse. Every two months an object is presented to the visitors for the first time and unfolds the narrative of the unknown history. After nine wonderful items that came in the light of the report up to now, the Unseen Museum, welcomes “the crater of the battle”, which emerged Monday, 25 July in the “hall of the altar” (*essential.34) to remain there until Sunday 25th of September 2016.
The next presentations will take place on 28 August and on 25 September, the day of Sunday, as well as on 16 September, day, Friday, at 13.00. In all of the presentations, archaeologists of the Museum, guests are welcomed in the showroom and chat with them about the silver crater and the rich burial gifts of a prince of the early Mycenaean world, who lived a life of a little one with great expectations.
