THAT will protect the pipes of your home from the polar temperatures…

Particular attention you draw to frost, due to the hazard that causes the slipperiness and the…
side effects of the low temperatures in the pipes of the house…
The General Secretariat for Civil Protection, in the instructions for protection from frost detailed in what has to be done every time to avoid the freezing of pipes:
Find out where is located the water meter (clock) of your home as well as the points where are located the central and regional switches water supply.
Check and make sure that the switches in the network of water supply to open and close and operate smoothly.
Make sure that the external tubes (e.x. solar water heater, faucets balcony) is insulated, otherwise be sure to insulate as soon as possible.
Isolate or better evacuate the network of solar water heater, if you are going to be away for a long time during the winter. Set the heating system of the house so that it works automatically in low temperatures.
Turn off the water supply to the solar water heater and empty the water from the system, if you are at home during the frost and, especially, in the evening, otherwise leave a faucet dripping in the hot-water circuit.
Don’t waste wasteful water to remove the snow and ice.
Limit activities that require increased water consumption (washing machines, etc.).
Check out if it is placed antifreeze in solar water heater by the manufacturing company or the specific placement, in the case of a closed circuit. In the opposite case, obtain the appropriate antifreeze and make sure for posting it.
Check if there are leaks in faucets or cisterns.
Make sure that the gutters on the balconies and on the roof are clear of leaves and garbage and running smoothly.
If you freeze the main water pipes
Immediately close the main switch for the supply of water to the house and check the water meter. If it continues to work (“writes”) then there is a leak in the network. Turn off the switch of the central supply and call a plumber.
If you decide to unfreeze the pipes, start from the part of the tube near the switch, so that the temperature change is gradual. If you don’t get results, contact a plumber.
Check to see if it’s wet or at risk of the electrical installations in order to isolate them.
Attention also:
Check out the condition of the road network and have non-skid chains.
If you are travelling on foot, wear proper shoes to avoid injuries due to slipping.
