condition and prerequisite for the preservation of the environment and the sustainability of the planet, is launching a new educational program: ctrl, shift, save the climate.
As is apparent from the title, thematic focus of this programme is the protection of the climate and in particular the opportunities offered in this direction, the information and communication technologies.
It is now patently obvious, that modern technology is an integral part of our daily lives, with particular resonance and popularity in the new generation. It is, therefore, extremely important the use of both the huge potential offered by the technology and the worldwide appeal that they have in this young people, to actions and practices with a positive sign for the environment and, in particular, for the protection of the global climate. In accordance, moreover, with the Report SMARTer2030, the development of and increased access to technologies such as smartphones and smart networks, has the ability to result in a 20% reduction of global emissions by 2030. Through the educational program ctrl, shift, save the climate, students will have the opportunity to discover how the capabilities of the computer or their phone, they can improve their choices in transportation, education, nutrition, landscaping, etc, in order to reduce their energy footprint and contribute to climate protection.
The program ctrl, shift, save the climate is being implemented with the generous sponsorship of COSMOTE, special issues of information and communication, and includes interactive presentations, accompanied by specially designed worksheets. Interesting parameter, finally, is the fact that these presentations will take place in the Museum of Telecommunications of OTE Group, with the cooperation of the relevant operator, so that the students to guide them in early and later samples of communication tools and in conjunction with the presentation of the educational program, to make a “trip” in the past, the present and the future of telecommunications.
