Spring equinox 2024: “It entered” and officially spring

At 05:06 on Wednesday morning (20.03.2023) “entered” and officially the – the event marks the – although the weather has more autumn plans! The beginning of spring in Greece and in the northern hemisphere where our country belongs is marked by the spring equinox. The spring equinox takes place on about 20 March and the autumn on about 23 September. Spring and autumn equinox refer to areas in the northern hemisphere, as at the respective dates in the southern hemisphere the seasons are opposite. At the points of the two poles there is no meaning to equinox, while at the points of Ecuador the equinox is constant. In the astronomy equinox is called the star day on which the center of the solar disc is an equal period of time above and below the horizon of each place, i.e. it deletes equal arches (daily and night), and during which the rays of the sun fall vertically into the equator. The phenomenon is due to the wandering of the earth around the sun and the inclination of its axis of rotation. As the Earth wanders around the Sun and because its rotation axis is not perpendicular to the drift level, the duration of the day changes. Twice a year the Earth is in such a position that the rays of the sun fall completely vertically into the equator. The equinox phenomenon is presented on all planets of each solar system which are tilting the rotation axis to the drift level.
