Spree for kids and adults in a Day of Action for Refugees, University of Macedonia, greece

A special evening of relaxation from the hardships of them passed….
hundreds of refugees of every age, who are accommodated in the space Open to accommodate Refugees in the camp Anagnostopoulou, in Diavata, municipality of Delta, participating in the Action Day for Refugees, organized by the University of Macedonia, having a warm support from a number of bodies and organisations of Thessaloniki.
Friday, 27 May 2016, the approximately 50 volunteers from across the university community of the Institution, along with musicians of All Traditional Music Department of Music Science and Art, as well as the band “The Gang”, they gave the best of themselves to make the refugees forget, even for a while the worries and their problems. In fact, in order to achieve this they had the assistance of an improvised music group from the Δενδροπόταμο, under the supervision of the Father Athenagoras.
All of them, received as a reward the spirited participation of large and young people in concerts and in seminars for First Aid, but the love of προσφυγόπουλων, who embraced the volunteers, and played with them in educational workshops organised.
The event was held at the initiative of the Rectorate, but also the active assistance of the entire university community and of the associations that are active in the University of Macedonia.
The Rector of the University of Macedonia, professor Achilles Ζαπράνης, stressed that “the success of the event was so great that both the volunteers and the refugees, we were asked to be repeated as soon as possible, while the person in charge of educational programs and a member of the Steering Committee of the event, professor Vassilios Dagdilelis, pointed out that “the response of the world was so warm, it gives us impetus and motivation to continue and extend the actions of the University of Macedonia for the refugees”.
The event supported the Organization of Urban Transportation of Thessaloniki (OASTH), the Helexpo-TIF, the Body of Samaritans of the Greek Red Cross, the municipality of Delta, the company of audio equipment 4 RECORDS, the label balloons BLOW, the Information and Documentation Centre on Racism, Ecology and Non-Violence, “Antigone” and the “Μετάδραση” – Action for Migration and Development, and, finally, a sponsor was, and the Company Property development and Management, University of Macedonia, greece.
