Spain: Prosecutor asks for 2 years and 6 months in prison for Rubiales

The prosecution of the National Court (AN) in , requested the conviction of the former president of the Spanish federation (RFEF) Luis Rubiales, in 2 years and 6 months in prison for the non-consensual kiss and the alleged coercion of national women player Jennifer Ermoso. Furthermore, – as the Spanish newspaper AS reports – AN’s deputy prosecutor, Marta Durantez, also asks for a one-year and six-month prison sentence for the remaining defendants of the case, Spanish male team athletic director Alpert Luke, former coach of the Spanish women’s team and current Moroccan women’s coach, Jorge Vilda, and former RFEF marketing director Ruben Rivera. National Court judge, Francisco de Jorge, considered that the investigation of the case was completed on 14 March with the receipt of testimony from current coach Montse Tome. To recall that Luis Rubiales is also being investigated for several RFEF contracts that refer, among other things, to the European Super Cap and renovation of La Cartuja’s stadium in Seville.
