At least 27 people died of streptococci, namely 16 adults and 11 children in the year 2023 – 2024. As noted by the infectious scientist, Sotiris Tsiodras, at the press conference for the opening of the 23rd Panhellenic Conference of the Hellenic Society of Infections, as soon as patients develop the first symptoms they should be alert. “We are not justified in 2024 to have measles epidemics,” the Professor and President of the Hellenic Society of Infections stressed, explaining that the cause of the increased incidents in Europe this year is due to a vaccination gap. “The low acceptance of vaccination for Covid is due to misinformation.
