Rhodes: The grooming of the neighbor’s dog sent him to the stand

The reason for a 62-year-old Englishman, who was found on the stand of the Trimel Flood of a Rhodes court, on Thursday, March 21, after a complaint she made against him, the neighbor and owner of the dog. In total, four were the offences that “weighed” the 62-year-old: that of bad and brutal treatment of an animal, physical harm, insult and theft, but as the neighbor stated that she no longer wants his criminal prosecution, she was tried only for stealing a chair from the outside of the complainant’s house and for the mistreatment of the animal. The court acquitted the 62-year-old for the services he offered to the dog during which the animal was slightly injured and found him guilty of taking the old chair and throwing it away. The 62-year-old’s defense attorney, asked the court for an effective sentence, which also imposed a five-month prison sentence with a three-year suspension. An appeal has already been lodged against this decision and so the case will be tried to a second degree in the following period. According to Rodiaki.gr, before the court where the 62-year-old apologized, he said, that on 16 July 2022 he found that his neighbor’s dog was dirty and scratched all the time, so he decided to wash it and clean it. Indeed, he said he took it home, without asking his owner and after taking a bath, he cut it. But during the haircut the machine caused a slight injury to the animal’s neck when it moved. The 62-year-old said that he had no intention of injuring the animal, instead his intention was to offer him relief by cleaning it, while for the chair that he was charged with stealing it, he said, that he was outside his neighbor’s house, along with other things left there, it was old times and how he threw it. The court in its decision considered that the 62-year-old qualified the old chair and found him guilty by imposing a five-month prison sentence with a three-year suspension.
