Revolution 1821: The macabre exhibit at the Old House Museum

A visit to a museum is always a journey through time, culture or history. Especially for the revolution of 1821 in Greece you will find many exhibits, relics and even paintings in many museums in Greece. This is also the case at the National Historical Museum or else at the Old Parliament Museum. There are treasures there that you will not see elsewhere. So in this museum in the heart of Athens you will admire many exhibits including the uniform of Theodore Kolokotronis and a large collection of weapons. For example, there you will see Athanasios Diakos’s gun and other bitches. Among other things, however, there is a macabre exhibit. It is located in the hall dedicated to the three islands that played an important role in ’21 and are Spetses, Hydra, and Psara. There, then, in an amphora-shaped vase there is the heart of Constantine Kanaris! Among miniature Greek and Turkish ships that relive the famous naval battles. The heart of the burlotier and legendary fighter of 1821 was removed from his body by Doctor John Zochius and guarded with respect to remind the great moments of the nation. The sculptor Thomas Thomopoulos created the licyth and marble larnaka in which he was placed. .
