According to ms. Machuca is, if regrettable, the Union of Doctors Hospital Athens Piraeus (ΕΙÎΑΠ), the more primary association of hospital doctors in the country, placed lightly on such a serious and sensitive issue such as National blood Donation.

In particular, as he says, in 2015, were collected from the blood banks of the country 538.580 units of blood, from which 318.044 from volunteer blood donors and 220.536 from family environment. The corresponding figures in 2012 were 558.825 set, 305.511 volunteers, 253.314 relatives. There is a small reduction of the total αιμοληψιών, which is mainly attributable to the reduction of units derived from the family environment, while the absolute number of units of volunteers has increased. From 2012 onwards there is a reversal of the relationship of volunteers / relative of the environment in favour of volunteers, which is the aim of the Î±Î¹Î¼Î¿Î´Î¿Ï„Î¹ÎºÎ¿Ï movement from its genesis.
“The needs of the country in blood are not shown by the number of collected units, especially in our days, the development of new techniques allows the reduction of the use of blood, which is a constant goal of the scientific community internationally, notes the president of the ΕΚΕΑ bringing as a striking example of the reduction of the consumption of blood in cardiovascular surgeries from 10 units a decade ago to 4-5 today. The only permanent needs in the blood of the country are those for patients with thalassaemia, about 120,000 a year”, as stated in the ms. Machuca.
With regard to the closure of the 3 “major†donations like she said, it has been observed that : The 1st IKA collected 3600 units in 2012, the 3rd IKA is not carried out by a phlebotomist, C.N. Patision has also collected 3600 units in 2012. The αιμοδοτικοί clubs of the 1st IKA’s and C’s.N. Patission incorporated in Evangelism, and C.N. Konstantopoulio / Ag. Olga, respectively, and samples of both hospitals increased in 2015 compared to 2012. Also the phlebotomist Mt. Fleming and Σισμανογλείου increased in 2015, compared with 2012, despite the “blow” of the merger of the hospital.
