Primary and Secondary education notes to a question tabled by the Minister of Education, Research and church affairs the Member of the SW A’ Piraeus and Islands Kostas Katsafados.
Stressing that the criteria for these positions were party reducing in this way the real and substantial qualifications of the candidates in the selection criteria, mr. Katsafados underlines that the Government had created silos in the whole process.
The question, the Member speaks of party control in education, for catalysis of any notion of reliability, and for repeal of the reforms that have been made throughout the preceding period.
“The Government, proceeded with the placement of the elite of the procedures, the boundaries between cronyism and partisan expediency. It forced the entire education community to engage in electoral processes in order to cancel their effect through the interview, while it downgraded the real and substantial qualifications of the candidates in selection criteria,” stresses mr Katsafados.

“Minister
The selection process for Directors of Primary and Secondary education, was a further specimen of the peculiar perception of the government for the concept of meritocracy.
The government was preparing for a very long time control of this process in order to place it in specific locations party of friends.
It turned out that the results of the vote and the qualifications of the candidates, were not the dominant selection criteria after the government had created silos in the whole process.
In particular:
-The Law 4342/2015 the government proceeded with the appointment of two of the five members of the departmental board by a decision of the appointed, with the known procedures, the Regional Director. The only criterion that the 15-educational service, any reference to qualifications and the standards of competence of those who have to staff the councils.
-With the amendment that was tabled and voted the 7μελή selection boards executive education was replaced by a 5-member which 2 members ( one a school counselor and a FACULTY member) shall be appointed by decision of the Minister while in these councils are chaired by the appointed Regional Director.
-With the use of the point system of interview, we saw overturned the results of the vote, but the ranking according to the qualifications of candidates for the positions of Directors of Primary and Secondary Education.
Essentially the government is implementing the real plan is the destruction of any notion of reliability, the abolition of the reforms that have been made throughout the previous period and the party-political control in education.
