Unsurprisingly, the candidates are showing interest mainly to specialties that will enable you to work, such as mechanics, electricians, technical networks for gas and hairdressers. Overall, the EPBD offers specialties from 14 disciplines (Computer Science – Telecommunications – Network, Financial and Administrative Services, Travel – Transport, Geotechnical, Food & Beverage, Engineering – Electrical Engineering – Electronic, Construction and Related Structures, Chemical Industry, Applied Arts Energy, Environment, Health – Beauty – Social Services, Communications & Media, Clothing & Footwear, Culture – Sport).
However, officials of the Ministry of Education, spoke on “K” felt that the next freshmen year, applications for vocational training institutes will be reduced after the abolition of the base 10 for admission to higher education, many high school graduates will be introduced at a TEI. The riposte to this view is that the economic crisis the candidates would prefer to study in IEK near the family home rather than the “migration” into a regional low demand in the subject (eg zoology, etc.) TEI. The fact is, however, that after the establishment of the base grade of 10 in 2006 entries in the IEK increased significantly. IEK and continue to attract young people, although they face significant operational problems and Building Science.
In a survey conducted by its director Mr Peter IEK Amfissa Karastathis, attended by 83 directors and deputy directors of public IEK (in total 114), the IEK have operational problems because of … flux around the post-secondary education and training. The payments were delayed (96.4% of the directors held the IEK as a key issue), there are workers with tenure in the IEK (92.8%), time of service is small (91.5%) to create conditions that will allow the development of quality vocational training institutes. Indeed, managers have criticized the lack of an evaluation system for teachers and administration every vocational training institutes (79.5% considered the main problem), while 79% focused on deficiencies in infrastructure. Indication, as indicated in research, IEK are dubious quality but high cost notes and record delays in preparation and distribution to trainees. “Addressing the many problems and the development of vocational training institutes require increased resources. But for now, the financial problem of the country does not allow it. Let us turn the problem into an opportunity by designing a new model of development of vocational training institutes, making them more efficient by implementing specialized, modern programs, “concludes Mr. Karastathis.
