Podium Celebrate their “Αεργίτες” in the Chapel of St. George Mesopotamia

On this day in 303 m.X. were the inauguration of the temple of Saint George in Lydda of Joppa in Palestine, where we were transferred the Relics of great-Martyr George for all believers to worship freely and fearlessly. The body of the Saint was originally buried in Izmit of the Roman Empire, where it had suffered a martyr’s death then by command of the emperor Diocletian.
The feast is called “Αεργίτες” and celebrated to the point where it marked the end of autumn, since in many parts of the remarkable country, the snow was over one meter.
In another version, the name Αεργίτες comes from the word “reactive” because the month that the Ussr had no business in the fields, due to the intense bad weather. November much dressed the home in the winter with carpets, rugs and heavy blankets, in order to properly prepare for the harsh winter that was coming.
More Than Envisaged Trabzon
Most of the areas of Pontus, and especially in the Ak Dag Maten, in November it was covered with snow. There was the following couplet: “Κρυάδας and snows a lot έγκε our Αεργίτες, let sean κρύον p’ ευτάει σεβταλούκ, a lot of craftsmen”.
November was the period of time during which came the fish on the coast and it was the most suitable and lucrative season for fishing. So, the fishermen went out on the Black Sea coast for fishing, the well-known in all Ποντίους χαψία. That is why they used to say on the Point: “The Άεργίτα let’s let cn main port. the χαψία let cn τηγάν’”.
