Pizza Papadopoulou: A neighbor told my mom “your kid ran over the tram”

The death of her 7-year-old brother who was not overcome, the beginning of her career alongside George Zambeta and the contraction she has even today. Or in a heart confession on the show Studio 4. When Thursday afternoon (28.03.2024) Pizza Papadopoulou sat on the couch opposite Thanasis Anagnostopoulos and Nancy Zabetoglou, she talked about everything. The famous singer revealed that her brother was killed at the age of 7 when he was run over by the tram. “My mom was working and my older sister looked after me and the two boys. One day we went for a walk and sat at a tram stop. My brother Nikos along with a friend climbed behind the tram while he was stopped and hung while he was moving. Because it was small and he didn’t know he went into the space between the two cars. His controller told him to come down, but he didn’t understand. At some point he left his hands and was run over by the tram. I was very young then,” described Pizza Papadopoulou. “My mom learned it very badly. Returning from work a neighbor shouted at her and said to her: “Mrs. Julia your child was killed, he stepped on the tram”. None of us, especially my mom. When you are young you see things differently, it is another pain for her and another for us children.” The great folk performer spoke both of her beginning and of her course. “I have never been such an open man with the people of my work. I’m a very private man and I don’t know why. As I went to work, I completely changed. I became more serious while I was a carefree girl in Thessaloniki and worked and dated company. But I came to Athens and a more closed man. And I’m still ashamed. I went out with a Zambeta. At noon he listened to me and in the evening I was singing at the store with Moschoiu and Zabetta, while Xarchakos and Vougiouklaki were downstairs and people who saw him alone in the movies. I never liked this job, I didn’t like it at all. In fact, I remember crying and wanting to go back to Thessaloniki. When I went out to sing at the store with Moschou, Zabettas made plans for me and I was scared. While I love singing, I don’t love work. Don’t look at me working,” said Pizza Papadopoulou.
