Philippines: Blood rolling with 17 dead – Van wrapped in flames after a truck crash

An incredible tragedy occurred today (25.03,2040 in the south where at least 17 people were killed in a severe accident, on a Philippine road, occurred when a truck crashed with a subversive bucket carrying sand in a van. The 17 dead are the van driver and passengers, Godofredo Tupaz, a police officer, told the French Agency. Earlier, a firefighter had reported 13 bodies, stressing that injured people had been taken to the hospital in serious condition. Among the dead is a 6-year-old child who left his last breath in hospital. Another passenger is hospitalized injured. The truck driver and both passengers survived him, Tupaz clarified. The driver is being held by the police. The accident occurred this afternoon on a central road axis of the Antipas community, in Kotabato province, in Mindanao Island, the country’s second largest. Eyewitnesses describe that the truck brakes appear to have not worked before the crash, Mick Garfin, a member of the disaster management agency, told the AFP. According to him, the van was then wrapped in flames, possibly because of the collision.
