Peter Bones: Olympiacos is an expression of Greek culture – to see a Greek final at the Conference League

He spoke of his great love, Greek football while wishing to see the Conference League final in the OPAP Arena, with the Piraeus and PAOK contenders. Petros Kokkalis was invited to the “EQ” show of ACTION24 and could not help but mention Greek football and, of course, Olympiacos. On whether Greece could take steps forward and become the championship like that of England, Germany, Spain: “This train is lost. Financial differences have been launched and in my mind I am much more concerned about the production of sport than about winning one or two championships. I want to have champions, to have world successes, but I’m much more interested in spreading the pyramid. Olympiacos was founded in 1925 in Piraeus, which Piraeus had accepted 1.5 million refugees from Asia Minor, who lived in slums, under hunger and poverty. Olympiacos was embraced by these people because it enabled them to join their new society. I wish they could go through all four and see in New Philadelphia an Olympic – PAOK final, I don’t know if the crosses are coming out. For the last 10 years, we haven’t been able to figure out where to do the cup final. We do it on stadiums that don’t work, on stadiums that fight, without fans. If Olympiacos and PAOK come now and they reach the Conference League final, let’s see we will succeed.” About what Olympiacos means to him: “Olympiacos for me is perhaps one of the most important expressions of Greek culture in the 20th century, it is a huge family, a whole world I have had the honor of serving for some 12-14 years in many roles that the world did not see. Anything that happened beyond 90 minutes of the game. I was involved in the modernization of Olympiacos, becoming a modern sports organization from the great adventure that passed after the stone years with Koskota and Saliareli, to be transformed into a modern multi-sport union with tens of thousands of registered members, with the right to vote, with a new stadium, with a new coaching center, with a new badge and now be the largest multi-sport club in the world, which will last year be the 100 years old. It is a crucial moment for all of us, those of us who love Olympiacos, to think about how we can be more worthy of the Olympic cause, which is the most popular way of raising youth.”
