Psoriatic arthritis
Psoriatic arthritis is a chronic inflammatory condition that affects the joints of the upper and lower limbs and/or spine, and occurs in 10-15% of patients with a skin condition called psoriasis. Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory autoimmune disease characterized by excessive proliferation of the skin, resulting in skin cells in the affected areas to be renewed every 3 to 6 days, instead of every 28. This causes a flat velvety, scaly patches on the skin.
There are several effective treatments to control the disease and to improve the quality of life of patients.
The association “Επιδέρμια” is the only Greek association, which represents Greece in the World Federation of Associations of Patients with Psoriasis, IFPA.
