Parliament: The draft convention on the 7 Canadianairs was passed on to the committee responsible – When does it provide for their surrender?

On the draft contract for procurement 7 the Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection spoke to the relevant committee of Parliament. The draft was passed by the committee. Vasilis Kikilias said that “we have before us the European elections and the political confrontation, however, the bill approving the draft convention on the supply of young Canadians, cannot be incorporated into it: It is a patriotic-national bill, which transcends parties and factions said Mr. Kikilias, explaining that it is the first time, after 50 years, that the Greek State is given the opportunity, with a great deal of effort and effort, and after brutal negotiations, at reasonable intervals, to be able to acquire and renew its air-fighting fleet. In response to questions from opposition members, Mr Kikilias stressed that the provision of the 7 Canadaairs is only part of the AGIS armament programme, which is expected to be announced as a whole in April, and concerns supplies worth 2.1 billion euros. These include other aerial means, helicopters, amphibians, floating in, and over 1,000 fire vehicles. Regarding the acquisition of the 7 Canadaairs, he said that delivery times, based on the contract, are 2 aircraft in 2027, 1 aircraft in 2028, 1 aircraft in 2029 and 3 aircraft in 2030. At the same time, he pointed out that the lease of aerials through NATO’s mechanism is continuing, and for the coming anti-fire period, which, as Mr Kikilias stressed, will be difficult and will require civil protection forces to fight very hard. In this context, the Minister for Climate Crisis and Civil Protection spoke of the interventions made for the best preparation possible, including the 990 recruitments in the Fire Corps – of which 700 relate to forestcomandos -, the increase in forestcomandos units from 10 to 16 on the mainland and in the island country, as well as the opening of anti-fire zones for the first time by the Ministry of Environment together with the Fire Corps, the HEDNO and the IPTO where there are high voltage stations and cables, as well as perimeters of the camps in a diameter of 100 metres. “Ladies and gentlemen, this is not a bill for political confrontation. I want you to think about what it means for citizens and for society to support this bill. And in this case you see that it is such a time-limit for receiving these aircraft that no one knows who will be in these positions. It’s not about now, it’s about investing in the country tomorrow. So I want to ask you very much to support this bill,” concluded Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Minister V. Kikilias.
