Panathinaikos – Nemania Maximovich: “I came to get titles and play in the Champions League”

His new acquisition, Nemanja Maximovic, analysed for the high goals has given him the incentive to choose the “trifl”. Shortly after the formalization of his transfer to Panathinaikos – with the date of the start of the partnership from 1 July 2021 – Nemanja Maximovic spoke for the first time as a player of “greens” on PAO TV, analysing the reasons that led him to sign a three-year contract with the “triflle”. The 29-year-old, international Serbian midfielder described Panathinaikos as a very large European club, stressing that he is the right team to win titles, showing that he has very high goals with the “greens”. Nemanja Maximovic’s statements on PAO TV: During the winter transition period having decided that you would leave Hetafe, did you have any other suggestions besides Panathinaikos? “Yes, I had other options. But I thought the best thing for me, for my family, for the given moment of my career and for my life is Panathinaikos. Best club choice, best city and best country to live in. Now is the time when I want to win titles, to compete in the European Cups and I believe this club is perfect for me.” – Did you talk to some football players you know to collect information about Panathinaikos? “Yes, of course, I spoke to several who struggled or competed at the club and everyone told me the best. I spoke to Filio Juričić and Philip Mladenovic and after this conversation it was clear in my mind that I want to fight here and help the team win titles and play in Europe.” What do you know about Panathinaikos? “I know enough why Serbs are like a brotherly people with Greeks. I’ve watched a lot of games. I know the team has years without winning the championship. It is important for all groups and of course the top of Europe, such as Panathinaikos, to win titles. I hope we do, and of course I believe Panathinaikos can win the championship in the current season. For me the most important thing in this three-year period that I will be here is winning the championship and participating in the Champions League with this fantastic club and this fantastic world.” – How would you describe yourself racing? “The first and most important element for me is that I always try to give the best myself for the team, to give 200% in each game. Sometimes I play good, some bad, but I always give the maximum. I try to help my teammates get better and help the team as a whole.” – What was the key point in your discussions with the people of Panathinaikos? “As I said before, the important thing is that it is a big team that has not won the championship in years and there is a good plan. The athletic director and the club generally do everything and prepare everything to win the titles. For me it is very important that they presented me not only the plan of the next season, but the plan of the next three years, something extremely important for each footballer.” – Would you like to send a message to the people of Panathinaikos? “I will give every training my best and hope to win titles together, play in Europe and spend three fantastic years”.
