Odysseas Vlachodimos: "If I return to Greece it will be for Panathinaikos" - Athens Times

Odysseas Vlachodimos: “If I return to Greece it will be for Panathinaikos”

In an interview he revealed that if he returns to Greece it will be for him, with the goalkeeper of the National Greece expressing his will to qualify for the “blue white” in Euro 2024. Odysseas Vlachodimos gave an interview with the “Betarades” and talked among others about Panathinaikos, his experience in Nottingham Forest, but also the National Greece and the goal for qualification in Euro 2024. The 29-year-old goalkeeper stressed that if he returns to Greece in the future he wants to be for Panathinaikos, to whom he described features from a child he became a man. At the same time, he did not fail to talk about Euro 2024 and, of course, the “great” goal for Greece to be there, with the international footballer stressing that it would be a great pleasure for the “blue white” to qualify for the German courts. In detail the words of Ulysses Vlachodimos “Since childhood, I have become a man. It helped me a lot in this part, I started playing in the league. He helped me get the transfer to Benfica. With all the goalkeepers in Panathinaikos we had very good relations. We helped each other. Luke Steele had approached me and told me, I’m here to help you. It was something very nice.” For the difficult period in the year of economic difficulties: “In the locker room it was always nice, we laughed. There were many names, and I was one. I had the help of course, Panayiotis was already three weeks there. I don’t remember a day when we had a bad climate. When I think about my career back, it was the best step I took.” About what was said in the summer and his connection to Olympiacos, through Nottingham Forest: “I came clearly only for Nottingham, to play in the Premier League, the best league in the world. It was clear from the beginning.” For the possibility of repatriation: “My goal right now is not to go back to Greece. But, if at any point I’m going back, I’d like to go back to Panathinaikos.” For the National: “We all want to go to Euro after ten years. We’re on our way. We know where we are, what we can. We have a quality team, with good and experienced players. We have a good mix. Young, talented, experienced. It’s everyone’s dream. For me it would be a double pleasure to go back to Germany and play Euro with Greece, in the country where I was born.” This season Ulysses Vlachodimos counts five entries with Nottingham Forest’s jersey in the Premier League, in which he transferred in the summer against 16m euros from Benfica.
