Oasis in the heart of London [photos]

An old water tank in north-east London has been transformed into a nature reserve.
It’s called Wetlands Woodberry and covers an area of 7 acres with reeds, lakes, dams and green plants, created a reservoir of water in the 19th century in Stoke Newington, located just a ten minute walk from the metro station Manor House.
The tank was built in 1833 to meet the growing demands for drinking water in the suburbs of London, while by the end of the 20th century, it was abandoned to its fate.
Just recently a company has undertaken the reconstruction of the region, with cleaning and planting of new trees and plants, trying to preserve the existing flora and the number of migratory birds that have found refuge here, So the inhabitants of London will now have a small oasis in the centre of the city, for a walk, relaxation and cycling…
