(Title) The request of the Kurdish leader Abdullah Ocalan to resume the trial of Turkey rejected the European Court of Human Rights.
Abdullah Ocalan appealed against the decision of the Turkish court in which he was sentenced to death in 1999, sentence commuted to life imprisonment in 2001, claiming the right to a fair trial by a decision taken in 2005 by the European Court and acknowledged that there were violations during the trial.

The decision of the ECHR stated to reduce contact with Ocalan lawyers and the presence of a military judge. The decision noted that “a new trial would be in principle a means to correct the violations identified”.
However, today’s decision the ECHR states that “the power to verify that States shall comply with the European Court of Human Rights is only the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe. “In this case, the executive organ of the Council of Europe concluded that the review of the case by the appellate court in Istanbul was consistent with its obligations,” the decision ECHR.
