New location for urban prisons
Urban area prisons are to be relocated in the periphery, Rehabilitation and Prison Reforms Minister D.E.W. Gunesekera told the Daily News. Accordingly Welikada prison in Colombo, Matara prison, Tangalle prison and all other prisons in the city and towns will be shifted to peripheral lands.
