Mylopotamos Rethymnon: Actions for Second Chance School began

Actions to establish a Second Opportunity School in Rethymnon began, at the initiative of the mayor George Branch, which marks, as he says, the commitment of the Municipal Authority to develop and strengthen educational structures in Mylopotamos. The mayor claims from the Ministry of Education the establishment of a Second Opportunity School (SIC) in Perama-based Mylopotamos, given the opportunity that these schools provide adults who, for various reasons, failed to complete their compulsory education in the past. The mayor, with the deputy mayor of Education, Dimitris Michopoulos and the director of SDI Rethymnon, Ioannis Spyridakis, held a meeting with the aim of informing the presidents of the municipal communities about this project. Mr. Branch stressed in particular the importance of obtaining a high school diploma which is a prerequisite for the participation of citizens in rural support programmes New Farmers (NGOs), subsidised programmes for unemployed persons from the IPP, public notices and recognition of professional rights in technical professions, etc. The commitment of the Municipality of Mylopotamos to support education and lifelong learning is strongly reflected, as the mayor, Mr. Branch, says, through this initiative, as it highlights the belief in equal access to educational opportunities for all. He even stressed the significant contribution expected to be given by the graduates of the Second Opportunity School to strengthening and staffing the departments of the Evening High School of Melidonio. The Municipal Authority expressed the wish that this initiative be a bridge to knowledge and personal development for the adults of Mylopotamos, opening new horizons in their educational course. The right to participate and Pre-registration procedures at the Second Chance School (SCE) Mylopotamos have persons over 18 years of age, as long as they have a primary or high school degree. The second chance school will be open to everyone, regardless of nationality or origin, while the pre-registration deadline starts today Friday 8th to 31st March. Interested parties may contact the Presidents of the Municipal Communities to complete requests for participation.
