and the police have identified four persons who are alleged to have produced the toxic drink using after shave as a raw material.
The tragedy unfolded on Saturday, the eve of Christmas, in the christian community of Toba Tek Singh, located about 300 kilometers from the capital Islamabad. Dozens of people consumed the drink that had been manufactured in the area.
“The number of victims stands at 34, after 10 other died during the night,” said the doctor Άσιφ ΜεχμοÏντ Salimi, the commander of the local hospital.
So far, 105 people have gone to the hospital with symptoms of poisoning, and some have been sent to other medical institutions.
The four suspects, they concocted the drink, the fed and the same. “One died, two others hospitalized in critical condition and the fourth was arrested”, said a police inspector. The arrested person explained to police that concocted the toxic alcohol using 20 liters of lotion, after shave and other chemical substances.
