demonstration for peace. The volunteers “flew” their clothing and photographed naked in front of the parliament in order to send their own message for peace in a country that 50 years ago torn apart by armed conflict.
At around 03.00 hours in the morning local time, the first participants began to arrive in Bolivar square, in the centre of the capital of Colombia, to pose naked in front of the lens of the photographer in defiance of the cold. “We are here, naked, quiet, calm. We are living a moment of peace and tranquility between us”, he described to the afp the Κλαούντι Μπαρέντος, a woman 40 years of age who participated in the artistic project.
“That was fantastic”, said Carlos Beltran, aged about 20 years.
“It was really a different experience and I think all of us experienced the same thing, taking off our clothes and (posing) just as we came into this world”.
In an interview he gave to the French Agency this week, Spencer Τιούνικ explained that he wanted to convey a message of equality, peace and unity”.
“Peace is paradise. It is my honor to be here at a time where the life-changing favor in the hope that a peace agreement will be signed,” he stressed, referring to the ongoing negotiations between the government and the fighters of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC).
The photos will be exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art of Bogota.
