Mitsotakis: populism will meet certain defeat by the documented and correct political reason

populism, pointed out speaking at the presentation of the book of John Βλαστάρη, “Dictionary Without a Tie”, Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

We were in front of this circle. We perfected the language of populism”.
Speaking about the role of social media in spreading false news, mr. Mitsotakis stressed: “social media enable a very quick dispersion of news. Many of these are false. The dispersion is made without any filter. And without the need of a journalist can be had, to check the source of the news. These have been removed. The ground is fertile to cultivate this kind of rhetoric”.
In particular for Greece, mr. Mitsotakis said: “We are a Democracy where there is an organized opposition and civil society that can puts forward a counterargument to this kind of political rhetoric. We, as the New Republic, chose a year ago to use the term “Agreement with Truth”. We did just because we wanted the concept of truth to demonstrate how we understand the political reason against populism”.
“The answer,” added mr. Mitsotakis “may not be to attempt to replicate the dual language to our advantage. From a point and beyond, the conflict of reason with reality is relentless. As if someone is trying to present the emerging agreement as something budget-neutral, if the agreement includes a reduction in pensions and a reduction in tax-exempt, that at some point the citizens will experience it. So, the very fact will come to collide with a reason – which may have short-term benefits – but under the condition that you will find towards of a other reason, a documented, appropriate, and realistic for a reason to step up to data, is sure to be defeated”.
