“Mission” loving and tender and a Great Week

On the side of the homeless found this year, the Big Week, the Charity Organization “Mission” of the Holy Archdiocese of Athens…
From midnight until the early hours, every day, volunteers of the Agency distributed food, bedding, clothes and personal hygiene items and chatted with the people who live on the streets of Athens.
The program “The Church in the streets” covers the immediate needs of homeless and families living below the poverty line, providing a 10,000 servings of food daily to 2,300 parcels via 78 parish centres of the Archdiocese of Athens, 4.700 parcels of food to schools (elementary-high schools-high schools) of Attica, 2000 family packages in the Social Grocery stores of the Organization in Attica, in Orestiada, in the Preveza and in Kalloni Lesvos.
At the same time, the period of the Great Week has strengthened the Charity project Holy Metropolises with more than 15 tons of food.
The Director-General of the “Mission”, mr. Konstantinos Δήμτσας reported on the efforts of the “Mission” and to the message of Primate of Athens and all Greece mr. Ιερωνυμου “to be this year’s Easter an exit from fear and despair to hope and the loving creativity, from hypocrisy to truth, from individualism to the society of love, of the varied manifestations of death in the experience of αναστημένης life”.
