almost all over the city (underground and aboveground), has evolved into one of the most dangerous places on the planet and certainly the most dangerous place in the USA to be on one.
The decade of the 1980’s, a Subway ride of New York, was considered a risky and dangerous energy for each passenger. The stations and the carriages of the trains, it was a den of gangs, anomaly, and all kinds of marginal type.
Those years, more than 250 crimes of all kinds per week were at stations or inside the trains. As a result, by the middle of the decade, the Metro lost about 300 million passengers who chose other means of transport.
Robberies, murders, rapes, drug trade, was a daily occurrence and it needed a lot of courage and luck, to enable a passenger to arrive safely at its destination.
The New York Subway is the largest Rapid Passenger Transport in the world. Has in operation 469 stations and the routes cover a total distance of 375 km. This was one of the reasons why the policing was from difficult to impossible.
But it is better to let the many words and allow the image to “speak” for itself.
