Maria Sakkari: “The road is long but I feel I’m going where I was”

The won 2–0 sets and qualifying over Caroline Garcia at Indian Wells in California, USA and appeared optimistic about her next games. After the end of the match with Garsia, she did not hide her satisfaction in qualifying for Indian Wells’ “16” and reported: “I had a clear plan for what to do and I did it. The service was important because it takes a lot of risk when Caroline returns and also has good service. It’s nice to get a few wins and comfortable ones. Just feel like I’m going where I was. The road is long, of course. The “16” phase is not something terrible, but at the same time I feel that I am doing the right thing and that good things will come.” Sakkari started badly this season and joined a coach change, but remains at the top10 of the world tennis ranking and seems to find rhythm in the US.
