Malta: Diving trip ended in tragedy – A tourist dead after a sea riot

In tragedy a diving trip ended in after a Dutchman was killed when a severe sea riot broke out. According to Malta’s authorities, tourists were divided into two groups and participated in a diving excursion off the Circus port. Weather conditions deteriorated rapidly and strong winds caused severe sea turbulence. Patrol boats and a helicopter were mobilized, searching for tourists, who had dived into an area of a popular wreck. Four managed to swim to the coast, less than one mile away. The rest were picked up by the turbulent sea, but one of them ended up during his transfer to the hospital. Eyewitnesses reported that divers were of various nationalities, but so far they have not been officially announced.
