Makeleio in Moscow: Evidence confirming the Islamic State is behind the terrorist attack

Russia may insist that Ukraine caused the bloodshed in , but the evidence and the way the very dead attack was made clearly shows that behind the attack lies the . Experts who have dealt with the Islamic State for years analysed the videos released by the terrorist attack in Moscow end up concluding that the hit was done by ISIS. Aaron Zelin, an expert on jihadist groups and a leading associate at the Washington Institute for Near East Politics, said that “the attack itself, the type of people involved, the style of attack and the media campaign” are all “the modus operandi of the Islamic State”. Aaron Zelin said the type of weapons used in the attack is consistent with the ISIS methods. “We have seen in previous attacks shooting people and stabbing people… They have as many weapons on them as possible so that they can cause them as much damage as possible. “So if they end up using all their bullets and cartridges or AK47s, they’ll still have a knife to stab”. Antonio Giustochi senior researcher at the Royal United Services Institute, said the way ISIS conducts attacks “depends on the kind of weapons they can acquire”. “So explosives that can be used for suicide zones are not so easy to procure…. It is probably easier to procure firearms in Russia.” He also added that “the exact choice of weapons may be dictated by what is available on the black market”. They match the clothes ISIS also published an earlier image that says it shows some of the people behind the Moscow attack. It shows four people with blurry faces in front of an ISIS flag. Zelin said images “swearing loyalty to the ISIS leader” are part of the organization’s media campaign. Sky News analysed and compared the image of ISIS to videos and images that followed interrogations by Russian authorities and other photographs later taken by the four suspects in court. We used a facial recognition tool and analyzed the clothes the suspects wore. The clothes worn by three of the individuals seen in the ISIS image match those seen in other videos and images appearing after the attack. He explained that they make a first take on responsibility, followed by a larger statement, then give “photographic evidence of individuals who declare loyalty to the ISIS leader” and then some video footage of the attack or related to the attack. “It is certainly a pattern they use, whose purpose is partly to play on the news for a longer time,” he said features.
