Loans: EUR 1.7 billion reduced in the 4th quarter of 2023 holding services and funds

They decreased in the fourth quarter of 2023 in the Greek economy and according to the statistics published today (19.3.2024), the Bank of Greece (TTE). In particular, a reduction of EUR 1,72 billion was registered at the nominal value of private sector loans managed by domestic servicers and transferred to specialised foreign financial institutions (funds), while the total value of loans in this category was reduced to EUR 69,466 billion at the end of the fourth quarter of 2023, compared to EUR 71,186 billion in the previous quarter. It is noted that from the fourth quarter of 2022 the nominal value of the loans does not include interest and write-offs from credit institutions that transferred the portfolio of loans. The change in methodology was made to harmonise statistics with the corresponding supervisory data. Loans to enterprises As TTE points out, the nominal value of the business loans under management was reduced to EUR 22,848 billion at the end of the fourth quarter of 2023, from EUR 23,953 billion at the end of the previous quarter. More specifically, the nominal value of loans to non-financial corporations (NGOs) decreased by EUR 1,080 billion and was EUR 22,810 billion at the end of the fourth quarter of 2023. Of the loans under management to NFCs, EUR 11,537 billion relates to loans to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The nominal value of loans managed to other financial institutions decreased by EUR 25 million and was set at EUR 38 million at the end of the fourth quarter of 2023. Loans to freelancers, farmers and individual enterprises The nominal value of loans under management to freelancers, farmers and individual enterprises decreased by EUR 542 million compared to the previous quarter and was €9,051 billion at the end of the fourth quarter of 2023. Loans to private and private non-profit institutions The nominal value of loans under management to private and private non-profit institutions decreased by EUR 74 million compared to the previous quarter and amounted to EUR 37,566 billion at the end of the fourth quarter of 2023. More specifically, managed consumer loans decreased by EUR 182 million and were set at EUR 15,631 billion. The management of housing loans increased by EUR 117 million and amounted to EUR 21.646 billion.
