Live: The speech of Kyriakos Mitsotakis at the ELK conference

One day just after the Russians launched an attack on Odessa near the motorcade that carried the Greek Prime Minister and President of Ukraine, Volondimir Zelenski, the Prime Minister speaks to Bucharest at the European People’s Party conference. Kyriakos Mitsotakis has been in Romania since yesterday for the ELK conference after the visit – lightning in Ukraine. See the speech earlier, the Prime Minister had a meeting with Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu, at the seat of the Romanian government. During the meeting the strengthening of bilateral cooperation was discussed, with an emphasis on energy and interconnection. The Prime Minister reiterated the role of Greece as an energy security provider, both through the vertical energy corridor and through the FSRU off Alexandroupolis, a major project for energy security and diversification of supply sources. The next steps were also discussed in projects of common interest in the tripartite cooperation scheme with Bulgaria, as well as issues of regional and European interest. Then, on the margins of the European People’s Party conference in Bucharest, the Prime Minister met with Romanian Senate President Nicolae Ciucă. On Wednesday evening (06/03/2024), the Prime Minister had a private meeting with Romanian President Klaus Johannis at the Cotroceni Palace.
