Kyriakos Mitsotakis: “We’ll get out of fan violence if group players want it”

The prime minister gave a major interview on the SWAI’s “Unfits” show and cited among others the government’s new legislation. Mitsotakis pointed out the positive results from the implementation of the new law and stressed that players in football must help in this direction, to eliminate popular violence on Greek courts. The Prime Minister was also asked the “fight” of Olympiacos and Panathinaikos in Euroleague, saying: “I wish to arrive (p. at Final 4). Both can.” But he avoided answering who could win the trophy. “The cup be taken by the best,” he said. The relevant quote from the interview Mitsotakis “I would also like to say a word about the issue of fan violence. Obviously we are still waiting for the police to complete their investigation into the tragic incident with the death of the police officer on Reddi, but I would like to stress that the interventions we have made, the drastic closure of the grounds, the automated penalties imposed which without me and without asterisks, so far, I stress this, so far seem to have produced positive results. The image of the land is an image that does not appear to be tense. You see groups that may lose home to eternal opponents and that may not cause the reactions… Disgraceful perhaps for us as fans, but we can express our satisfaction that it seems at least in football to be in the right direction. In basketball we have left far ahead and we see images in both the Greek league and the Euroleague with many young children on the field, with families. That’s how we want professional sports. I also believe in football. As long as everyone wants it. And when I refer to everyone, I also refer to the players of the groups.”
