KKE for Anna Michel Asimakopoulou: We will call for an immediate convening of Parliament’s Committee on Institutions and Transparency

“The government of the ND and the leadership of the interior ministry are heavily exposed to the leak of personal data of the voters of abroad,” says the KKE’s case that “their responsibilities cannot be hidden either by the “retirement” of Mrs Asimakopoulou from the ND Euro-digital system, nor by the removal of some ND officials and officials. And the excuses that the leak of the evidence was made during the period of the service government – only to keep Mrs. Kerameos and consequently the government itself – cause the intelligence of the people”/ “The questions are relentless and will not avoid them – First, how could personal data be leaked in May 2023 to be used 10 months later in view of the European elections? Secondly, what are the conditions for protecting the personal data of the voters when they so easily leak to certain parties? – Third, how can the current leadership of the interior ministry be “exonerated” when complaints concern both the platform of national elections and that of the epistolic vote? Furthermore, is it true that Mrs Asimakopoulou’s letter of information about the epistolic vote and advertising message were sent with a little time apart, which highlights some kind of coordination? – Fourthly, how can all this happen without the knowledge, if not encouragement, of the leadership of the interior ministry? In any case there is huge – at least political – responsibility. This responsibility becomes even greater, because from the publication of the complaints of the voters – whose data were used – until resignations, there were persistent and unacceptable statements of disorientation and expediency that refer to a conscious and deliberate attempt to cover up responsibilities. – Fifthly, how can the government reassure the people of the epistolic vote, when under law the personal data of the voters will now be available not only to the state services, but also to private companies and even foreign countries, which will carry out the procedures of the epistolic vote? Note, that foreign voters do not even have the alternative of self-representation in polling stations, since such sections are not planned abroad.” The KKE goes on to say that “these are issues relating to the protection of the incessant elections that the KKE had set from the first moment, based on the negative international experience, when the ND government brought the bill for the epistolic vote, initially having the support of SYRIZA and PASOK.” “In these and many more questions must be raised Mrs. Kerameos. That is why the Communist Party, along with the rest of the investigation, intends to call for the immediate convocation of the Parliament’s Committee on Institutions and Transparency in order to explain the inexplicable” he concludes.
