(Title) Full involvement in reconstruction projects of National Highway in Maliakos recorded since the sites to circumvent Stylis and Lamia have been abandoned, and instead of September this year (as required by the original schedules) the delivery of the road to traffic scheduled for 2013. At the same time, however, the consortium “New Way” is preparing to work in August a new toll station near Thermopylae, in the section already in operation.

From 2005 to 2007 the (then) Ministry signed contracts with three different joint ventures for the reconstruction of the highway along the “lethal horseshoe” of Maliakos (total 77.2 km). About ATTI-KAT undertook the construction of three sections:

– Part Skarfia – Node Thermopylae, length 12.5 km
– New Section Sperchios bed – Node Roditsa (bypassing Lamia) long, 4.1 km
– Part Stylis – Rachon, length 19.2 km

Work in Maliakos started and the first 53.9 km delivered until September 2008 . But a few months before the deadline for the remaining 23.3 km (ie bypassing Lamia and part Stylis – Rachon) projects are still in the beginning. What has happened;
According to the Ministry of Infrastructure have any problems with the building projects of ATTI-KAT. For the first contractors (Skarfia – Thermopylae), the artery has been delivered by September 2009 but has not completed the construction of slip road serving local traffic. Given three extensions to completion, the last of which ended in May, the company has requested a further extension until October.

In the meantime, however, the new National Road in Maliakos be delivered to the consortium New Street SA, which has undertaken the construction of the Central Greece Motorway (E65 from Lamia to Egnatia through Thessaly). The company will “use” the Maliakos through the construction of two toll booths to finance the construction of E65. “To avoid any claims of the concessionaire to the government because of late delivery in this section, administrative protocol signed receipt of the completed section of the road,” explains the “K” the Secretary of Public Works, Mr. John Economides. “With this protocol, the Egnatia Odos SA has assumed responsibility for maintaining and operating the road to allow construction of the first toll station ».
While there are no street have been constructed and the Maliakos incomplete, the first toll station (Agia Triada, near Thermopylae) made to work. Sources of New Road it placed into operation in August, noting however that has not yet given final approval by the ministry.

The other two parts, ie bypassing Lamia and bypassing Stylis and Rachon should be ready by September 2009 and September 2010 respectively. “Practically, the project is abandoned,” says the “K” Mr. Economides. “We think there will be a delay of at least three years. It is worth noting that the two sections under the concession contract will be delivered at New Road in June 2011, which of course will not happen.
According to sources in the Ministry of Infrastructure, cause the “Freeze” the project is the poor economic situation ATTI-KAT. The Department leaves open all options, among which the termination and epanadimopratisi project. Finally worth noting that the ministry ordered the House Public Works Accountants to examine the company in financial assets, and the quality construction of the Skarfia – Thermopylae.

The projects have stopped because Maliakos the Ministry of Infrastructure has not fulfilled its financial obligations. This supports the K strains ATTI-KAT, noting that the government owes the company nine million euros from 15 million in additional contract was signed for the part Skarfia – Thermopylae. Furthermore, as managers ATTI-KAT, the debts to the company from completed projects (in Egnatia, Grevena and elsewhere) over 70 million.
As for the low rate at which projects moved Maliakos in recent years, the company claims to have been given a mandate by the Ministry to focus on projects in the Egnatia Road in view of integration, leaving second place to the other …
Finally, as regards the monitoring of House Accountants Public Works, the company expressed its discontent by stating that the checks went only to projects ATTI-KAT and Mechanics in Maliakos and not to other companies (eg AKTOR). With regard to the inspections, the company argues that the Maliakos used the initiative of the Ministry widespread practice of paying a project by project resources nearby, by offsetting the amount then.

The Power of Nightmares – by Adam Curtis Part 1: “Baby It’s Cold Outside” Part 2: “The Phantom Victory” Part 3: “The Shadows in the Cave” “The Power of Nightmares, subtitled The Rise of the Politics of Fear, is a BBC documentary film series, written and produced by Adam Curtis. Its three one-hour parts consist mostly of a montage of archive footage with Curtis’s narration. The series was first broadcast in the United Kingdom in late 2004 and has subsequently been broadcast in multiple countries and shown in several film festivals, including the 2005 Cannes Film Festival. The films compare the rise of the Neo-Conservative movement in the United States and the radical Islamist movement, making comparisons on their origins and claiming similarities between the two. More controversially, it argues that the threat of radical Islamism as a massive, sinister organised force of destruction, specifically in the form of al-Qaeda, is a myth perpetrated by politicians in many countries-and particularly American Neo-Conservatives-in an attempt to unite and inspire their people following the failure of earlier, more utopian ideologies. The Power of Nightmares has been praised by film critics in both Britain and the United States. Its message and content have also been the subject of various critiques and criticisms from conservatives and progressives … ” From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia en.wikipedia.org Video Rating: 5 / 5
