International distinction for Professor of the Polytechnic School of ATH George Karayanidis

Germany’s largest state scientific institution Alexander von Humboldt Foundation awarded the professor of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering of George Karayannidis’ Polytechnic School with the Humboldt Senior Research Award. Each year the Humboldt Senior Research Award is awarded to 25 researchers from all scientific fields, for their contribution to the development of science and technology, research and teaching. This is one of Germany’s largest recognitions to researchers and scientists operating outside Germany around the world. As announced by Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, “Professor Karayannidis is an internationally acclaimed researcher who leads research in the field of telecommunications and especially in the scientific area of Wireless Communications. He is known for his important and pioneering contributions to this area, which include a wide range of research, from the development of basic mathematical tools to the design of practical algorithms and methods for wireless telecommunications systems.” Special reference was made to the work of Professor George Karagianidis to create the 6th generation (6G) networks. The award ceremony took place on 22 March 2024, in Bamberg, Germany.
