Infrastructure: “Trypa” of more than 150,000 labour “hands” at construction sites – From where and how the companies will bring craftsmen

Huge in labor “hands”, craftsmen, qualified services and executives (engineers etc.) are listed on the construction sites of large groups (GEK TERNA, AKTOR – Intrakat, METKA, AVAX) of , which have currently undertaken or promoted projects over 16 billion euros! Older information referred to a “work gap” of nearly 200,000 – 250,000 people, although these figures are probably related to the general needs and deficiencies in staff of various sectors, with the most moderate approaches they refer to as “holes” of some 100,000 – 150,000 workers, many of whom are even considered to be highly skilled craftsmen. However, it is obvious that either more than 250,000 working hands missing or 150,000 are being mentioned, the figure is huge and shows that it is a major problem, for which construction industry officials constantly ” ring a bell”. However, movements from companies are already being recorded to overcome the bureaucratic “targets” and to bring artisans and qualified officials, from machinery engineers and operators, to electroplyers and foremen, from countries in Asia or North Africa, as far as possible. Thus, most companies have begun to turn to finding people from third countries, even using relevant electronic platforms, which have started operating. And they are obliged to do so because despite the calls of the representatives of the construction industry and what has been heard from the government to promote relevant solutions and interstate agreements, for the time being the problem of finding labour remains strong. Countries such as Egypt, India, Bangladesh, the Philippines, etc. could be “tanks” from which construction companies will draw labour hands and executives. Through platforms and job search offices or in other ways, construction workers collect résumés and look for staff, e.g. on the basis of the legislative framework that allows workers to be attracted from other countries, whether it is seasonal employment (up to 9 months), or 12 months of renewal. Of course, on the one hand, the project is not easy as long as there is no central solution through government intervention (although coordination of a number of ministries is required), on the other hand, issues will always arise that technical companies, such as the amount of their remuneration, residence and feeding of workers and staff and their families, promotion of them, possibly in the region of Greece where there are construction sites etc.
