Increases student housing allowance to 1,500 euros

The student housing house is increased to 1,500 euros in public AEIs, Higher Schools of Tourism Education and Commercial Navy academies in Greece, as well as Cyprus schools included in the system of nationwide examinations. The increase in the allowance concerns the bill to strengthen the public university and the framework for the operation of non-profit branches of foreign universities. As explained, since the beneficiary is staying with another student in the same rented residence, the housing allowance is EUR 2,000. For AEI outside Athens and Thessaloniki the allowance of 1500 euros increases to 2,000 euros and in the case of accommodation outside Athens and Thessaloniki reaches 2,500 euros. More specifically, the text of the amendment reads as follows: “1. Undergraduate students of the Higher Educational Institutions (A.E.I.), the Higher Schools of Tourism Education and the Commercial Navy Academies of Greece, as well as the Cyprus Schools included in the system of Panhellenic Examinations, Greek citizens or citizens of other countries of the European Union, an annual housing allowance equal to a thousand five hundred (1,500,00 €) euros is granted. In the case of a beneficiary living with another student in the same rented residence, an annual housing allowance equal to two thousand (€2,000,00) is granted. You are not entitled to the benefit of those who are studying for a second degree. The annual housing allowance is granted on the same terms to the public higher vocational training schools. The allowance referred to in the first subparagraph is set at the amount of two thousand (€2,000,00) euros exclusively for beneficiaries attending S.A. outside the Region of Attica or the Regional Unit of Thessaloniki, and exclusively in the case of a beneficiary attending S.A. outside the Region of Attica or the Regional Unit of Thessaloniki and living with another student in the same rented residence, an annual housing allowance equal to two thousand five hundred (€2.50.00) euros is granted.”
