In Vienna, the Region of Crete for partnerships in the context of competitive European Programmes

INNO INDIGO participated in the Region of Crete, which took place at the University of Vienna, Austria. In the context of the implementation of the INNO INDIGO (as well as other research programmes ERA-NET of the previous funding period, FP7 2007-2013), there have been significant scientific initiatives between countries of Europe and of India in the field of research. During the current financial period and under the new HORIZON 2020, supported and encouraged partnerships between European partners and countries outside of Europe, for issues of current research in a variety of scientific fields.
For the new financial research under HORIZON 2020, the Regions are prime eligible partners in partnerships, it promotes the participation because of the opportunity given to them to implement and through the regional strategies of smart specialisation, and to exploit the results of research and innovation targeting the local community and local businesses, through the exercise of their policy at the regional level.
The Region of Crete, which was the unique participant of the Greek Region, was invited to the meeting for participation in competitive european programmes for research and technology of european and non-European countries, with an emphasis on the collaboration of European Agencies with the Department of Biotechnology of India. Dr. Eleni Chatzigianni, Director of the Environment and Spatial Planning on behalf of the Region of Crete, has developed the comparative advantages of Crete as to the important research and scientific capacity, the expertise of research and Academic Institutions on the island, but also the priorities in the field of technology and innovation, and as they have been formulated and developed through the Smart Specialisation Strategy of the Region of Crete. Discussed current calls HORIZON 2020 that support cooperation Europe and other countries for critical issues in the agricultural sector, fisheries, energy and environment, and planned the subsequent partnerships of the Region of Crete with other european and international partners, for the joint submission of competitive proposals for funding.
Participated even in the Region of Puglia (Italy), the Region of Wallonia (Belgium), the Academy of Finland, the European Network of Centres for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (Belgium), Foundation for Research and Technology of Portugal, Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology of India, the National Centre for Scientific Research of France, the Agency for Scientific Research in the Netherlands, the Centre for International Innovation, India, the Organization for the Promotion of Research of Italy, as well as the responsible spokesperson of the Directorate-General for Research and Technology of the European Commission.
