In the plans changes in traffic fees from 2025

Changes in the plans , as a special working group is set up, which will have the object of proposing reversals regarding the present institutional framework. As of 2025, about 5.5 million vehicle owners will see changes not only at the level of traffic charges based on the plans of the Ministry of Finance, but also on late payment penalties, according to ERT. According to the team’s relevant decision, it is the reform and updating of the framework, the formulation of opinions on regulatory and legislative regulations, the elaboration and study of new technological economic, social and environmental developments as well as the conditions, conditions and criteria for shaping the costs of fees. The first project is expected to be presented in September, and until then the technical working group will also study traffic charges systems in other countries. Today the charges have several speeds depending on the emissions of pollutants or the displacement of the vehicle (for old cars) while a complete exemption is provided for electric vehicles and hybrids emitting low pollutants. Competent sources leave open the scenario of raising charges in older cars as part of the start-up application of anti-engines for the very old and polluting cars. With the new data, the only new technology cars that are thought to have zero charges are electric. Today they do not pay fees for new hybrids with classification after 01.01.2021, since they emit less than 122 gr/Km. At the same time, budgetary margins will be examined to provide incentives through the withdrawal process to stop the movement of 20-year-old cars and replace them with new, modern anti-pollution technology. The working party will also consider scenarios for changing the financial fine for unpaid traffic charges currently equal to twice the value of the day of delay. The intention of the finance ministry’s leadership is to establish step-by-step additional charges according to the time of late payment of the fees.
