πρωτεύσαντες of the 7 Medical Schools in the country, on the afternoon of Saturday 24 September 2016, the archaeological site of the Asclepeion of Kos. The Ceremony, which was organized by the Panhellenic Medical Association in collaboration with the Medical Association of Kos and the International Hippocratic Foundation of Kos, made in the presence of the Deputy Dean of the University of Athens and President of the Education Field of the Research Institute of the Panhellenic Medical Association, Professor George Painter, as well as the Presidents and Professors of the 7 Medical Schools.
The ceremony was attended by the Secretary General of the UEMS (European Union of Specialist Doctors), Professor Claus Παπαλόης, the Vice-president of the Central Council of Health, Professor ms. Chryssoula Nikolaou, representatives of local authorities of the island, as well as other countries (France, Italy, Cyprus, Israel, Turkey). Also, it was attended by the members of the Board of directors of the Panhellenic Medical Association, of the Executive Secretariat of the Institute, the Board of directors of the International Hippocratic Foundation, the Board of directors of the Medical Association of Kos, etc.
The Ritual Recitation of the Oath was done with the whole ritual. The πρωτεύσαντες a vow before Hippocrates and recited in ancient Greek and modern Greek the vow of the great Master of Medicine.
The President of the Panhellenic Medical Association mr Michael Βλασταράκος, thanked everyone for their presence at the ceremony, congratulated for their efforts, young people now physicians who graduated first. They recommended to put high goals in their lives, responding to the values and cultural traditions of this place.
The awards which were presented by the Presidents of Medical Schools to their respective alumni, were accompanied by a prize of 1,000 euros, as a symbolic price of their great effort.
At the event also spoke of the President of the International Hippocrates Foundation, mr Aristotelis Pavlidis, the ex-president, mr. Stefanos Geroulanos, the Deputy Rector of the University of Athens mr. George Painter, and President of the Medical Association of Kos, mrs Maria Φρατζάκη.
In the morning of the same day, was a visit to the Hippocratic Foundation, which is the practice of Hippocrates and the Botanical Garden. It then became a Conference with the theme: “Education (Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Lifelong) in modern Europe”.
Key speakers were the Presidents of the 7 Medical Schools, the vice-president of the Jv.P.Y. mrs. Chryssoula Nikolaou, the Secretary General of the UEMS, Professor Claus Παπαλόης and the representatives of foreign countries.
The President of the Conference and President of the Field of Education of the Institute, If. Rector, mrs Painter, thanked the speakers for their thoughtful contributions, the findings of which will help in the determination of a single training framework, in accordance with the specifications applicable in Europe. The
Panhellenic Medical Association, the With.P.Y., the Medical Schools and the Medical Companies will make use of the recommendations made and the conclusions reached.
The AMA believes that in this Area, which is an important component of the operation of Universities and particularly Medical Schools, the State will listen to the suggestions. The common objective should be the production of adequately trained doctors who will wish to remain and work in their country, στελεχώνοντας the Public and Private Health Sector. The State must take the necessary actions in order to avoid the great loss of the most chosen resources of new Ασκληπιάδων.
