How to maintain the nutrients in the food that we store

He Writes: Deacon Theodore
One way to be able to stay faithful to a healthy, balanced diet program is to know to shop smart. Making a list before visiting the supermarket and can’t get away from her, to learn to avoid the traps that lurk in every corridor and, of course, not to shop ever hungry.
Equally important, however, is to know how to keep our food fresh and nutritious, as the nutrients slowly begin to disappear inside the refrigerator. How will we manage to store our food properly, and to reduce the risk of being infected?
Always check the temperature
The temperature is the most important factor to calculate how much time to hold our food in the fridge fresh. Many foods must be stored at different temperatures. To be sure that the conditions are always appropriate, invest in a fridge thermometer. The low temperature prevents the growth of harmful micro-organisms in our food, therefore we should never let the temperature of our fridge to rise—and this is precisely why we don’t leave the door open for a long time.
Do not wash the vegetables before the fridge
Many times we buy fresh vegetables, wash them and then place them in the fridge. This is a big mistake, as the moisture will help in the development of micro-organisms, as in the wear and tear of our products. Store vegetables such as we buy them, and wash only the pieces that we will use, the time you need them.
How to store the cooked food?
If we want to maintain the cooked food safe and without losing its great taste, we must be sure that we’ll put it in the refrigerator no more than two hours after cooking. If kept at room temperature for more hours, the risk of being infected increases. Equally bad idea is to place the food out of the oven and is very hot immediately in the refrigerator, as it will increase the overall temperature of the refrigerator, putting at risk all other foods. One more thing to remember, is to use the right utensils. A more shallow container, for example, helps the food to cool more quickly.
How to wrap my food?
If you wrap it tight the food with transparent film, can be maintained fresh for a long time. Alternatively, the plastic bags that close tightly is a very good choice, as long as we are sure that contain as less air as possible before the close. If we put our food in tupperware, we choose one that will fit exactly the food, without a lot of free space.
I can put more food in the freezer?
To get something from the freezer, let it thaw and put it back again is a very bad idea. We must remember that freezing does not kill the bacteria in the food. Therefore, when the defrost, the food softens and (at room temperature) can the bacteria to multiply.
Watch out always check the expiry date of your products, and to plan your meals carefully so as not to fall into the trap of the market, large quantities of which will eventually end up in the trash.
