Greece buys 7 new canadair – In Canada Kyriakos Mitsotakis

In Canada the Prime Minister will be in the next few days and, among other things, the agreement on the acquisition of new firefighting aircraft will be completed. Kyriakos Mitsotakis revealed the purchase of new Canadaairs in the interview he gave to the Canadian newspaper “The Globe and Mail”, where he points out, among other things, that it is “a large market for Greece”, and notes that the total cost for the supply of new aircraft by Canadian De Havilland amounts to around 360 million euros. Mr Mitsotakis’ official visit will be the first in Canada, the Greek Prime Minister for 41 years. “The delay was inexplicable, given the strong ties between Greece and Canada,” he said. “I had set as a priority to visit Canada officially… to cooperate with the Greek-Canadian community and talk about the economic aspect of our cooperation.” The Agreement provides for the purchase of five DHC-515 aircraft through the ‘AGIS’ equipment programme for the needs of the Fire Department and another two through the European Union’s civil protection mechanism. The latter two will be based in Greece and will operate properly, but their priority will be aid in cases of major fires in other countries.
