Germany: Two Afghans Arrested for Planning a Terrorism Attack in Sweden · Global Voices

Two were arrested by police in why they were allegedly planning a terrorist attack against Parliament in Sweden, as announced today Tuesday (19.03.2024). The Federal Prosecutor’s Office has made known that these are two Afghans, Ibrahim M.G. and Ramin N., who planned to attack with weapons and kill police officers and other people in the Swedish Parliament, Stockholm. According to information available to the German authorities, the two arrested “have already made relevant preparations”, following the instructions of persons related to the branch of the ISPK Islamic State from the Khorasan region, Afghanistan and eastern Iran. Ibrahim M.G. He joined the ISPK since August 2023 and has already been found to have been sending money from Germany to Afghanistan in order to support IK members imprisoned in northern Syria. A few months ago his organization commissioned attacks on Sweden and other Nordic countries, following incidents with the burning of the Qur’an in demonstrations. In recent months the Swedish authorities have repeatedly warned of the risk of terrorist attacks, following the armed attack of an ISPK member against Swedish football fans in Brussels last October.
