Gaza: Seven killed from bombing an NGO car – Four foreigners among them

Seven are now the workers of the NGO World Central Kitchen (WCK) killed after being bombarded in a US MKO car, adding that it suspends its activities in its area. “World Central Kitchen crushed confirms that seven members of our group were killed in Gaza by a blow to Israel’s armed forces,” US-based NGO announced. According to the announcement, workers “were descended from Australia, Poland, Britain, one had dual US and Canada citizenship and one Palestinian”. Despite WCK acting in coordination with Israeli armed forces, its motorcade was hit at the time it departed from a warehouse in the town of Deir al Bala in the Gaza Strip, after having landed more than 100 tonnes of humanitarian aid for its Palestinian enclave. “This is not just an attack on WCK, it is an attack on humanitarian organisations operating in the most difficult conditions, where food is used as a war weapon,” said Erin Gore a WCK executive. On Sunday, an Israeli air strike targeted a convoy belonging to the World Central Kitchen, killing sevenaid workers in Deir al-Balah, Gaza. WCK released a statement, stationing that its “team was traveling in a de-confused zone in two armoured cars branded with the WCK logo.” — Middle Eye (@MiddleEastEye) “It is unforgivable”, he stressed. For his part, the founder of the NGO, chef José Andres, said that “my heart broke” and that he mourns for the families and friends of the dead. “The Israeli government must stop killing indiscriminately,” he stressed in an posting on social media. “It must stop restricting humanitarian aid, stop killing civilians and workers in relief organisations and stop using food as a weapon of war. No other innocent life is lost. Peace begins through our common humanity. It must begin now.” WCK announced that it is suspending its activities in the region and added that it will soon make decisions on its future moves. The NGO provides food and prepares meals for people in need. In March he had announced that he had offered more than 42 million meals in the Gaza Strip over 175 days.
