Francis Scott Key Bridge: The light of day revealed the disaster – Still looking for missing persons

Revealing are the images from which it collapsed like a paper tower when a cargo ship fell upon a pillar. So far two people have recovered alive from the waters of the Patapsko River after the collapse of the Francis Scott Key bridge in Baltimore after impacting the cargo ship. One of the two rescuers is in critical condition. “This is an active search and rescue operation right now and will continue to be for some more time,” an official stressed and added: “We need to investigate a large area. This includes the surface of the water, the bottom and the deck of the ship.” Baltimore fire chief estimated that authorities are looking for more than seven people. Earlier other officials had stated that up to 20 people may have been in the water after the bridge collapsed. For his part Baltimore mayor Brandon Scott said the bridge collapse is “an unspeakable tragedy”. “We need to think about the families and people affected, the people we need to look for, for now we are focusing on it,” he stressed. James Wallace also stated that there is no information that the cargo ship Dali flagged Singapore faced a problem. However, he added that authorities have not yet spoken to his navigator. Finally, Baltimore police chief, Richard Warley stressed that “there is absolutely no indication of terrorism or that (the impact) was deliberate.”
