The incident occurred last Thursday and immediately informed both the Forest service and the Hellenic Center for Wildlife Care.

According to the specialists from the Center for Animal Care:
During this period, the small (which is about 5 months old, or ” parents, or lost if the get a current of air and remove them from their parents) the birds are forced to travel long distances to find food. Also the lack of water caused by poor rainfall and deteriorating as it gets later in the summer, makes us fear that there are a lot of vultures –more young people – who will need help this year.

The bird took the first aid from our volunteers, and then, after it was found that he has a neurological problem moved with the help of the MINOAN and Saronic ferries to Aegina, where he continues the treatment he needs to overcome his problem. In the Centre there is a huge cage for vultures where the young animal is once done well will have the opportunity to grow up a little, even among people of his kind and to be released next Summer.

The Hellenic Centre Wildlife Care (ΕΚΠΑΖ) wants to thank once again the department of Forestry for the excellent cooperation in the interest of the wild life of our country and, in particular, the director of Forests. Heraklion, mr. George Papadopoulos and the Δασονόμο mr. George Μελισσουργάκη for the personal interest in the fate of the animal.”
