Ford Tourneo Connect: Increased flexibility with the new Plug-In Hybrid drive transmission

It now makes the popular 7-seat multi-purpose Tourneo Connect even more attractive by introducing an advanced, plug-in hybrid drive transmission system for the first time in the category. The Tourneo Connect Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) increases the flexibility and adaptability of the model to the next level by allowing customers to electrify their driving experience, by achieving a target of up to 110 km of pure electricity and zero emissions of pollutants – especially in the increasingly low emissions zones in many cities of Europe. This new model also completes the electrification of Ford’s new, exciting next generation Tourneo passenger vehicle family in Europe, which will additionally include the compact 5-seat E-Tourneo Courier, the 8-seat E Tourneo Custom, as well as the 9-seat Tourneo Custom Plug-In Hybrid. “The Ford Tourneo Connect is famous for its abilities and flexibility and the new PHEV version strengthens both these aspects. Whether it is used on routes to and from school and on trips full of action, or even as a working vehicle, the great electric autonomy of the new Tourneo Connect PHEV means it can electrify many of our busy customers’ movements,” said Rich Hughes, Tourneo brand manager, Ford, Europe. The start of orders for the new Tourneo Connect PHEV opens in the summer of 2024, while the first deliveries are expected during the last quarter of the year. Advanced PHEV technology Tourneo Connect PHEV’s innovative new drive system delivers combined 150 PS and 350 Nm torque by incorporating a 1.5 L EcoBoost gasoline engine, a high voltage battery, an electric motor and an automatic 6-relation dual clutch box. For long-distance travel the lithium ion battery has the possibility of a fast charge on public DC chargers with a power of up to 50 kW , while recharging it with AC at home is possible with power of up to 11 kW . The different Tourneo Connect PHEV drivers help drivers optimize how battery power is used: EV Now : for driving using the EV Auto electric motor only : for balanced use of the electric motor and gasoline engine depending on the driving conditions EV Later : for driving only with the gasoline engine to save all battery energy for subsequent use EV Reserve : for saving a level of battery energy determined by the driver for subsequent use Customers can choose between the 5-seat Tourneo Connect PHEV and the 7-seat Grand Tourneo ConnectPHEV, which has a longer body length and standard a third row of seats with two seats. The spacious and flexible cab of the model remains unaffected by the new plug-in hybrid transmission system. With the removal of the two rear row seats, customers have a loading area of up to 3.1 m 3 at Grand Tourneo Connect PHEV and up to 2.6 m 3 at Tourneo Connect PHEV. Tourneo Connect PHEV’s smart technology extends beyond the new transmission system. The spacious cabin features a digital cockpit with two 10-inch displays and connectivity through the SYNC information and entertainment system, which is compatible with Android Auto and Apple Carplay wireless. The new electric motor model features the same advanced driver assistance systems as the petrol and diesel Tourneo Connect, which have already extracted the maximum five star rating from the independent Euro NCAP security organization. The technology suite includes Pro Trailer Backup Assist, Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Lane-Keeping System and Exit Warning. Customers can use their vehicle’s capabilities quickly and in the best way using the FordPass intuitive application, which can show the residual electrical autonomy, battery charging levels and time until its charging is completed. For greater convenience, the application is also able to activate alarms for vehicle maintenance and locking and unlocking the distance doors. It may also display the last known time and parking space to avoid any fines. Ford offers the new Tourneo Connect PHEV in the three already known versions: Trend : its high standard equipment includes digital cutter and 16-inch Titanium aluminum rims : added chromium details, roof rails, tinted windows and more active guide support systems : with SUV hard-railed style, panoramic roof and 17-inch aluminum rims with treated face.
